How to I set a users permission on a 3750 for READ-ONLY

All, I am wanting to set the permissions on a 3750 so that once a user logs into the switch, all they can do is issue show commands and ping devices? I want to do this only from this switch. I do not have AAA and I do not have a radius box. Much appreciated.

Configure the username with a privilege level of 1 and define the commands that can be used in that privilege level

username xxxx privilege 1 secre yyyyy

privilege line level 1

Accessing a device via telnet brings you in this mode by default.

Simply keep the enable secret for yourself.

thank you. Is it possible to have read-only on the web-access portion?

I don't think so. To access Http users requires priv 15.
