Hello, we would like to upgrade the sup engine for 4507R-E from WS-X4516-10GE to WS-X45-SUP8-E with redundancy.
can you provide the procedure to upgrade sup engine with minimum downtime?

1- Plan for MW.
2- Take config backup from the box.
3- If you have spare chasis make sure the new sup's are working fine and it has the exact software on it.
4- Bring down the chasis.
5- Remove the old Sup and install the new sup.
6- Power up the chasis
7- Apply the config back on the box
8- Unshut all the ports.

Will the backup config works on new IOS or do i need to modify config?
Current IOS version : (cat4500-ENTSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(40)SG
Current ROMMON : ROM: 12.2(31r)SG3
WS-X45-SUP8-E IOS and ROMMON ( by data sheet)
Software Requirements
The Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series Supervisor Engine 8-E is supported only in Cisco IOS Software and is not supported in the Cisco Catalyst Operating System Software. The minimum software version is:
● Supervisor Engine 8-E, Cisco IOS XE Software Release IOS XE 3.3.0XO

Config would work fine.
No changes required.
But make sure you unshut all the layer 3 vlans and interfaces as applying config would not automatically bring the ports up by default.
