hrsp arp issue

Hi ,

I have  vlan 5 with ip address 192.168.5.1 and standby(hrsp) ip address of 192.168.5.254. All users use 192.168.5.254 as default gateway.

I see lot of arp for 192.168.5.1 not 192.168.5.254 when using sniffing tool, is this normal?

Yes its normal.

Some things need to know the physical address of the interface.

Yes its normal.

Some things need to know the physical address of the interface.

but those arp come from  users vlan, e.g 192.168.5.42.

Do your interfaces (the ones in the standby groups) have IP Helper Addresses?
