HSRP in L2 switch

I dont know much about HSRP but i have one doubt can we use HSRP in L2 switch alone to achieve redundancy

No you can not use HSRP in L2 switch.

HSRP provides gateway redundancy, that means redundancy for the first hop of routed packes.

That only makes sense with a routing-capable device, like a router or a L3-switch.
