HSRP in Switch

Hi Everybody,

I am planning to configure HSRP in 3560 switch.

1. Whether the configuration will also be replicated?

2. Should i connect a dedicated cable between the switches for hello messages?

Can anybody throw light on this

Re: HSRP in Switch

#1 As far as I know, you'll need to manually configure HSRP on other gateway devices.

#2 No, but since the purpose of HSRP is to migrate gateway if the active gateway fails, you often want a L2 loop between HSRP gateways and their gateways hosts (with loop broken by spanning tree).

Re: HSRP in Switch

1. As far as I know the switches' configurations are not replicated via HSRP.

2. You will need a cross-over between the devices.
