HSRP learning unwanted Standby groups on routed interface

I am using a 3560 Switch with two routed interfaces, I am trying to add a new HSRP instance, but am getting the following error message.

% More than 32 standby groups not supported in this platform.

I understand there is a limitation on these switches, but when i have only have 4 HSRP instances configured.

Interface Grp Prio P State Active Standby Virtual IP

Vl372 60 100 P Standby 32.34.123.34 local 32.34.123.33

Fa0/15 90 100 P Standby 62.200.72.2 local 62.200.72.1

Fa0/16 91 100 P Standby 62.200.72.157 local 62.200.72.156

Fa0/17 92 100 P Standby 62.200.81.108 local 62.200.81.107

CLSPRA3560_2#

But when i run the command "sh standby all brief"

I can see all the 32 instances used up, and they are being learn from a routed interface i am using, they are from the rest of the network. How can i filter out, these other instances to allow me to configure further HSRP groups on this switch

CLSPRA3560_2#sh standby all brief

P indicates configured to preempt.

Re: HSRP learning unwanted Standby groups on routed interface

Hi Simon,

Here is the explanation of 'init' and 'disabled' states:

Init or Disabled - Router is not yet ready or able to participate in HSRP, possibly because the associated interface is not up. HSRP groups configured on other routers on the network that are learned via snooping are displayed as being in the Init state. Locally configured groups with an interface that is down or groups without a specified interface IP address appear in the Init state. For these cases, the Active addr and Standby addr fields will show "unknown." --->The state is listed as disabled in the fields when the standby ip command has not been specified.<---

I hope this will help!

Good work.

Abdel
