  Standby router is unknown

  Authentication text "cisco"

Virtual mac address is 0000.0c07.ac11 (Default MAC)

Looks like HSRP multicast is not making it across. Does Po1 connect the two Nexus 5548s? Are you able to ping physical IP address of other switch?

Yeah sure:

Switch_2_new(SSI15430KTP)

                       Eth1/1        176    S I s     N5K-C5548P    Eth1/1

Switch_2_new(SSI15430KTP)

                       Eth1/2        176    S I s     N5K-C5548P    Eth1/2

ping 172.16.1.3

PING 172.16.1.3 (172.16.1.3): 56 data bytes

64 bytes from 172.16.1.3: icmp_seq=0 ttl=254 time=3.09 ms

64 bytes from 172.16.1.3: icmp_seq=1 ttl=254 time=3.692 ms

64 bytes from 172.16.1.3: icmp_seq=2 ttl=254 time=3.751 ms

64 bytes from 172.16.1.3: icmp_seq=3 ttl=254 time=3.759 ms

64 bytes from 172.16.1.3: icmp_seq=4 ttl=254 time=3.979 ms

Btw: Multicast should work if CDP sees neighbours or am I wrong here?

Worked offline with Christian.. He has L3 modules offline due to missing license and he will try installing L3 base license and test.
