HSRP on secondary IP address

Hi,

We are having two routers and and HSRP is formed between gig 0/0 of each router.

We have been given two different pools of Public IP address so we plan to give secondary IP address to each gig 0/0. If we use a different standby group number for each subnet is it possible to form HSRP on both subnets. Do we need seperate authorization for each group ?

There is a solution that is more easy than using a separate group for the secondary address. Cisco has provided the ability in HSRP to define a shared address for the primary address subnet and also to define a shared address for the secondary address subnet. You configure in the HSRP the primary as normal and then you configure standby ip secondary

It is quite simple and it works very nice. There is no need for anything so complicated as two HSRP groups.
