HSRP on SVI running both IPV4 & IPV6 (dual stack)

Hi Santoshkumar,

It is indeed possible to have hsrp running for both ipv4 and ipv6 on the same SVI as I indicated previously. Here are links to configuration example.

HSRP for v6:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080b9119e.shtml

HSRP for v4:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a91.shtml

HSRP on SVI running both IPV4 & IPV6 (dual stack)

Hi Santoshkumar,

Yes, it is possible indeed. The only prerequesite is that you enable HSRPv2 on the interface prior to enabling hsrp for v6. HSRPv2 does provide support for both v4 and v6.

HSRP on SVI running both IPV4 & IPV6 (dual stack)

Dear Ritter ,

Yup i could see on below document .

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-16506

Q. On configuring an IPv6 HSRP standby group, run into an error message: "%FHRP group not consistent with already configured groups on the switch stack."

A. Only HSRP version 2 supports both IPv4 and IPv6. So configure "standby version 2" under interface.
