HSRP problem

Hi,

I have an a Catalyst 2950 with IOS with IOS ver. 12.1(12c)EA1

where are connected two router with HSRP configured.

If I switch off on of the two routers I don't see on MAC address table

the port where is connect 0000.0c07.ac01 (layer 2 virtual address)

and I can't surf on network from client of LAN.

What can I do because all it working fine ?

Best regards

Re: HSRP problem

Hello Lorenzo,

If I understand you correctly then you are saying that the failover in your HSRP group is actually not working properly: when you disconnect the active router, the standby router does not seem to acquire the active role and does not provide the connectivity to outside networks. Is that correct?

I think we should start verifying the problem by looking at the HSRP router configuration. If possible please post the following outputs:

  • Configurations of the HSRP-enabled interfaces on both routers
  • Output of the show standby brief and show standby on both routers when both routers are on and connected
  • Output of the show standby brief and show standby on both routers when the active router is disconnected

Let's focus on the switch only after we are sure that the HSRP configuration is correct and working as expected.

Best regards,

Peter
