HSRP tracking via IP

Is there a way to track an IP instead of an interface when using HSRP Tracking?

Re: HSRP tracking via IP

Yes, you can configure IP SLA to ping a host and associate this SLA to a track.

On the HSRP configuration, you can use the track option instead of the interface.

Please read this chapter and at the bottom of the chapter, a HSRP example is illustrated.

Yes you can configure "track ip route" command to achieve the same.

Re: HSRP tracking via IP

This command is a config mode command. Configure this command as below,

"track 1 ip route < ip addr/n> reachability"

and apply the same under interface using

int g0/0

standby 1 track 1

This will track the ip route and if the ip addr is not in routing table, the object will be down.

Hope this helps.
