You want the VIP and router IP's to be in different subnets? I'm affraid that won't work.

HSRP Virtual ip not able to ping

Hi Mohammed,

The HSRP VIP needs to be in the same subnet at the real router IP's.

I suggest changing the configuration so that the HSRP VIP is: 10.0.0.4 /24

the default route for R5 should then be set to:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.4

cheers,

Seb.
