I can ping the gateway, but I cant ping the switch in between

Default Gateway of ISP----> Switch------->Router

From my router, I can ping Gateway, however I cant  ping the switch (WS-C2960G-8TC-L) in between.

Any body has ideas?

I appreciate in advance

Lots of ideas, but need additional information on what exact steps you've taken and the results to give you a targeted response.

General possibilities:  no interface on switch to ping, ICMP being filtered/rejected, no route to the source interface of the ping, etc.

Re: I can ping the gateway, but I cant ping the switch in betwee

Thanks for your quick return. Here is IP settings

ISP gives me following settings

x.x.34.1 gateway /28 usable addresses

I have WS-C2960G-8TC-L switch

So I have 2 routers and 1 host plugged into this switch ( switch ip adress x.x.34.2)

first router is x.x.34.3 / 28 working great  ( I can ping gateway, and I can ping switch on WAN interface) creates a LAN with 192.168.0.1 / 22, all users can connect to internet

host is x.x.34.4/28 working great ( I can ping gateway, and I can ping switch on WAN interface).Connected to internet.

second router x.x.34.5 / 28 having problem ( I can ping gateway, but no ping to the swicth) this router also creates LAN with 192.168.2.1 / 22 , users cant connect to internet

* I changed to port on switch and changed the IP , no luck.

So how am I having connection to the Gateway without having connection to the swtich?

Thanks in Advance

Please, share te switch config. I guess its a VLAN problem. Maybe the admin vlan is not equal the port vlan (default vlan 1)

ARP issue on the switch?

IP address subnet is not right?

Wrong VLAN on switch?

Typo on IP address on switch?

Need to see some configs!

Do you know if the VLAN interface is up ? This can be the reason !

ISP ----> Switch ----> Router.

1) How many VLANs do you have configured on your internal network, and where to they terminate at?

2) Why are you using public IP addresses on your internal devices? From the look of your setup, you

should really only use your public IPs for NATng reasons. You have such a small network all you need

to do is setup a PAT with just one public IP. You only have 12 IPs to choose from with your /28 mask.

3) Are there any switches off of your Router?
