i turn on jumbo frame on my 3750/2960/asa-5515x

hi all,

i turned on jumbo frame on my 3750/2960/asa-5515x.  The interfaces are on 9000 after I reload but my 3750/2960 is still on "system mtu routing 1500".

Do I need to put it also on jumbo frame?  What will be the behaviour on old system like XP (with NIC that doesn't support 9000), old printer system (like label printer), wireless (with B type), etc.  I need jumbo frame primarily on my vpshere 5.0 system and ip hp-san4500.

Thanks for any comment you may add.

Hi,

system mtu routing 1500 is for routed interfaces.  If your device is primarily a layer-2 device, you need this command

system mtu jumbo 9198

Also, it shouldn't make any difference for devices that don't support jumbo.  The just use the standard mtu size of 1500.
