identifying nat ..

folks..

assuming we'hav 8 routers in a row.i need to determine which router in the path would be using NAT.do we have a simple way to find this out without goin on each and tracking them.

Can we do this with the first or say second router itself??

Thanks in adavance!!!

Re: identifying nat ..

Hi Foxfatreco,

A trace should show where the nat translations are occurring. The only other way is to login to router itself.

Where you apply NAT depends on your needs, why do you want to use NAT?

Re: identifying nat ..

Justin..this is a scenario where we arent fully aware of where this is happening.NAT is used in this case to have a security perimeter before it hops on to another vendors network..its a multivendor environment.

Trace will not be of much help if the network is not fully visible to you.if the visibility was clear, nat point would be already known.

Just trying to find if anyone of you have any idea for this.

Thanks!!!
