Hello,

We are having an issue moving a WS-SVC-CMM Cat6k Voice Linecard from a WS-C6509 chassis to a VS-6509E-S720-10G chassis. Each time we have tested moving the voice card it starts through the boot process then powers off with the following message in the logs:

%C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 4 set off (Fpoe DB mode not supported)

I have had some difficulty finding what Fpoe DM mode is and why it is not compatible? The ios version of the card is at the minimum recommended version for the new chassis.

Thank you any assistance would be appreciated.

Rick,

FPOE stands for Fabric Port of Exit.

Every fabric-enabled module in the switch will be programmed with FPOE mapping (aka., FPOE DataBase) which is required for traffic forwarding.

If the switch is in VSS mode, then this module is NOT supported, and may report this error on bootup.

If the Switch/Sup-engine is NOT in VSS mode, then please make sure CMM has minimum version needed for Sup720 engines.

Please do "show switch virtual" to determine the VSS mode.

Hope this helps.
