Injecting External Routes into OSPF

Hello,

Can external routes be injected into OSPF through an ASBR which is only connected to non zero area? Is any special configurations required for it?

Most of cases i have seen routes being injected through an ASBR in area 0.

There is no requirement for an ASBR to have an interface connected to area 0.  It can be a router that is completely internal to an area ie. non of it's interfaces connect to area 0.

There is no special configuration other than if the area should be treated as a stub area in which case you need to configure the area as an NSSA (Not So Stubby Area).
