Interconnect ATM n Dot1Q VLANS together

Hi,

I'm having LANE protocol runnig on my LAN switches connected to Fore's ASX1000 backbone thru ATM interfaces. Intervlan routing is done thru Cisco 3660 router, which is having atm interface connected to above backbone.

Now I would like to use cisco edge switches with cisco 3750 agreggation switch. Planning to connect the 3750 to 3660 thru GBIC Fiber interface. Now If I create new vlans separately on edge & 3750 switch, will these vlans be able to communicate with existing vlans on ATM network. Please advice...

thanks...

Hi Friend,

You have to create same vlans on 3660 and create logical interface for the same vlans on 3660 to involve them for inter vlan routing. Also you should have a trunk between 3660 and your 3750 switch allowing those new vlans.

As long as your new vlans can hit their gateway on 3660 switch and can be routed to the old vlans via intervlan routing on 3660 it should communicate.
