Hi,

Cisco router in Melbourne is disconnecting more frequently Apparently it disconnected 4 times today, If it is restarted then it works again for a while, but eventually it disconnects from the internet and doesn’t attempt to reconnect
Can anyone help me ? this router has been a problem never have managed to get it to be reliable
the question is whether there is a hardware problem or a config problem
im sure the internet stops and starts all the time but this router doesn't appear to reconnect
also if swap router to BILLION from Cisco then all is fine

interface Dialer0
mtu 1454
ip address negotiated
ip mtu 1452
ip nat outside
ip virtual-reassembly

ip route-cache flow
ip tcp adjust-mss 1452

dialer-group 1
ppp authentication pap callin
ppp chap refuse

Calin

Hello,

Thanks for your quick reply, I didn't get ant error or any log, i am not sure why,
if  it's disconnects from the internet and doesn’t attempt to reconnect, it should be connect Automatically, but if i restarted manualy by using power switch then it works again. I am very much irritate from this issue it will be a great if you will help me, i did post this issue on many forums but same issue yet

Cisco877#

hi,

i've observed bouncing more on the LAN FE ports. what devices are connected behind your 877? if WAN is still intermittent, i would suggest to try replacing the RJ-11 cable or try connecting directly to the phone wall socket without the the splitter or fax connected with it. lastly if all still fails, ask your ISP to have a technician to inspect for any wiring problem.

Hello,

Thanks for giving comment, we are mostly using wi- fi, only two system are connected to FE LAN ports by RJ-45, we have issue in All System (WI-FI also LAN), If restarted Cisco Router then it works again for a while, but eventually it disconnects from the internet and doesn’t attempt to reconnect
if I change router menas swap to Billion Router then all is fine,

Please look on Snap when i lossed internet

I notice your line attenuation is pretty high at 53.0 dB - this value is the loss of signal strength between the DSLAM and your equipment. Different routers can effect this too, but 53.0db is pretty high and could be effecting the stability if your line. THis could explain why the cisco unit is having issues reconnecting..

It may be that with the billion connected the attenuation is reduced a little.

To give you an idea

20dB and below is outstanding
20dB-30dB is excellent
30dB-40dB is very good
40dB-50dB is good
50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

Do you have any idea how to reduced it ?

Hi Sir,

I have the same issue could you please give advise how to reduce DB, I would like to try this one at least.

Appreciated.
