can any body tell me that how to take backup

of routers/swtch's ios backup on pc ,and how to upgrade ios?

You can use TFTP server.  Go to this URL and download the TFTP server to you PC and then download the IOS from Cisco to you PC and upload it to your router.  You can also use the TFTP server to backup your current IOS/Conifg.  FTP and Cisco works are other options you can use.

How to backup Cisco configuration

1. You need to configure your PC as a TFTP server. If you are windows user you can use any third party software for TFTP.

2. Access your Switch or Router through telnet or Console and put the command

copy running-config:  tftp:

it will ask the IP address for TFTP server.

How to Update Cisco IOS

1. copy tftp:ios.bin flash:

enter TFTP ip address

Hello,

You need to have a PC with TFTP server loaded onto it. Connect the PC to the router/switch and make sure that you have connectivity between them.

To backup the IOS from the router/switch:

Step 1:Start the TFTP application on the PC. Make sure that you have write permission on the TFTP root folder

Step 2: On the Router/Switch issue "copy flash: tftp:". It will open up a wizard. Give the source file name (with .bin) and destination file name.

Step 3: The file will be copied to the TFTP server. Now you can check the file to make sure that it is in there.

To backup the IOS to the router/switch:

Step 1:Start the TFTP application on the PC. Make sure that you have enough space on the router flash to hold new image. Also verify that the router has enough RAM to support new image.

Step 2: On the Router/Switch issue "copy tftp: flash:". It will open up a wizard. Give the source file name (with .bin) and destination file name.

Step 3: The file will be copied to the Router. Now you can check the file to make sure that it is in there.

Step 4: Set the boot parameter on the Router so that the router will boot with the new image.
