Jackal,

You are using a wrong procedure to upload the IOS on the AP. You are using a .tar file and this will not work with the normal " copy" command. You have to extract this .tar file to use the files which are inside this zipeed file. You have to use the following command:

archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://172.17.62.71/c1200-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA2.tar

Please use the link below for more understanding:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_8_JA/configuration/guide/s38mfw.html#wp1035507

HTH,please rate if it does.

I think the error that we are getting " error opening file" is probably because AP is not able to open and copy the file to the flash as it is a .tar file and a .tar file cannot be exatracted/opened using a copy command. The " archieve " command is the one which will work here.I believe that there is nothing wrong with the TFTP, probably its the command access for using the file.

I Have a problem, trying to upgrade My AP 1120B from 12.2(13)JA2 to 12.3.8-JA2(ED).

I followed the link listed before. But I have a problem with the tftp Server. The tftp Solaris SERVER says that archive does not exist.

Inside the AP:

error opening tftp://10.0.0.2/c1100-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA2(No such file or directory).

I have configured correctly the tftp server because doing the same task with other routers it works perfectly.

If some one can help me.

thanks.
