ip broadcast-address x.x.x.x

Dear all,

I am having one router 3660 (R527x) with IOS 12.2(31)

On many interface I can see following command

ip broadcast-address x.x.x.x

What does it mean as I need to shift this link to 12416 Router with IOS 12.0(32)SY3 on optical port.

Do I need to shift this command also to new router

Please guide

Mahesh,

This command is used to change the default broadcast address, which is 255.255.255.255.

Unless some devices connected to this interface don't recognized the default broadcast address, you really shouldn't need it.

That is correct. It is very unlikely that you still need that command.
