IP same subnet not pinging

           Hi  all,

I have one issue with IP Communication not happening in the same Vlan,

We have one Subnet 157.227.104.0 255.255.254.0

We have server has two Lans

One Lan is Configured with 157.227.104.x

Other Lan is configured with 157.227.105.x  still in the same subnet 157.227.104.0

issus is we are able to ping 157.227.104 from 157.227.105

but we are unable to ping 157.227.105 from 157.227.104

Can any one address what could be problem?

This usually indicates a host configuration issue. A host firewall is the most common issue I see. For instance Windows Server 2008 R2 will, by default, not respond to ping (icmp echo request) due to Windows Firewall settings.

To troubleshoot I do a packet capture on the destination system (after verifying subnet mask etc.) to see if the incoming packets are seen.
