Re: ipv6 addresses on router interfaces

Not when you enable IPv6 routing.  It assigns link local address automatically after you put the ipv6 on the interface with EUI

ipv6 address FEC0:1:2::/64 eui-64

Re: ipv6 addresses on router interfaces

Hi Carl

When you enable an IPv6 on router then by defaul the Link Local address is addign to router interface & That address actually use you MAC address to make an unique address , The process is know an EUI-64& it start with "FE80::0"

Please refer the below link.
