Hi Expert

I think that a catalyst3560X connect to VSS Catalyst 6509 by ether-channel.

I'd like to connect a catalyst3560X to VSS Catalyst6509 by the Ether-channel.

I heard need "Enhanced PAgP"  that VSS Catalyst6509 connect to by Ether-Channel.

I don't know  supported "Enhanced PAgP" on Catalyst3560X.

Would you please tell me about it ?

Thanks.

Hi Takuro,

Your thinking is correct.  You don't need any special config on the access switch You just create the Etherchannel.  You only need to apply ePAGP command on the VSS set.  Again the 3560s do not support ePAGP.  Please have a look at the link I provided above.

Hi,

Not the 3560.  3750, 4500 and 6500 series support ePAGP.  Have a look at this link:

The easiest way is to run fast hello using a 3rd connection between your 6500 VSS pair

Hi Reza,

How is the new PAgP version called exactly - ePAgP or PAgP+? I have been trying to search for it in Feature Navigator under both names but I had no luck.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I am not sure if the name is different then what it was a few years ago.  I know when I was testing VSS (3 years ago), it was called ePAGP. I will try searching for it also.

Regards,

Reza

Hi Reza,

Many thanks for your advice.

Please let me ask just one more question

1:

Are there any special settings for  ePAgP on Catalyst3560X?

I think that do not need any special setting for ePAgP.

Ex)

Catalyst3560X(config)# interface range gigabitethernet 0/X - Y

Catalyst3560X(config-if)# switchport mode trunk

Catalyst3560X(config-if)# channel-group 1 mode desirable

Is my thinking correct ?

Best regards,

Takuro

Hi Reza,

Many thanks for your advice.

I looked another sites.

http://www.cisco.com/web/DK/assets/docs/presentations/VSS_0109.pdf

This sites says that a Catatalyst3560 supported the ePAgP on IOS 12.2(46)S.

Which is correct ?

Best regards,

Takuro
