Is HSRP a cisco-proprietary?

You can configure HSRP in networks that run which of the following protocols (Choose all that apply)?

A. Banyan VINES
B. IP
C. IBM DLC
D. Novell IPX
E. AppleTalk

Answer: A, B, D, E

I believe that HSRP is a cisco-proprietary, so my answer was "B" only.

Why the answers here are ABDE ?

please help

thanks

HSRP is Cisco proprietary nut just because it's proprietary doesn't mean it will only work with IP. It works will all of the above -

HSRP doc

Hello,

Check this link out http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/internetworking/case/studies/cs009.html#wp3584

HSRP is proprietary, but that does not mean it can't support other routed protocols like IPX.

Hope that helps.
