Issue: - You have insufficient space in disk2:

All the .bin files are zipped files, router expands .bin (IOS files) at the time of boot.  (Actual size of the IOS file is much bigger than the zipped file, so don’t think that if you have IOS code in the disk your job is done. You need to make sure that there is enough space in the disk so that zipped file may expand at the time of boot).

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282188585&flowid=820&softwareid=280805680&release=15.2.4S4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest

To run c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.152-4.M5.bin, you need to have minimum free Flash/Disk: - 256 MB and DRAM of 1024 MB.

Currently you have only 126.4 MB available space in the disk. That’s the reason you are getting an error.

Don’t forget to rate this solution :-)

Hi,

It appear that the router is complaining about not having enough room on the flash card, end though you have the correct amount of flash that is required which is 256Mb.  You also have enough memory for this IOS.  So, I would try to clean up the flash card, load the new IOS on it and than reboot it.

Remember, this will cause long outage if this router is funtionaing in a live network.

hi ,

want to say that the old ios images stayed in the flash

note that flash in 7200 is called disk2

so :

7200Gateway#sh disk2:

-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path

1    39814568 Sep 21 2010 11:23:42 +02:00 c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin

2    39812968 Jan 24 2013 14:07:38 +02:00 c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T7.bin

3       10924 Feb 6 2013 02:59:54 +02:00 6-2-2013

4    50219396 Jan 11 2014 16:37:20 +02:00 c7200p-adventerprisek9-mz.152-4.M5.bin

126349312 bytes available (130154496 bytes used)

,

you mean that flash is full ?

Hi,

Yes, the flash seems to be full even though it shows you still have about 126Mb of available space. So, make a backup of all the existing images on the flash, than delete them and than load 152-4 and try it. Hopefully, this router is not is production, as making changes like this causes down time.

Good Luck

hi , thanks all alot for reply ,

but another questions

1-

why the bin are expanded in flash ???????

i thought that are expanded in memory ??!!!!

2-

if the space is not suitable for the new ios , why my router could run with the new ios 15 ???

i mean that it should give me an error and dont load the ios ?!!

AND AS WE SEE above , the current ios is iso 15 after reload ?!

3- do i need to update bootstrap when i update the ios ???? or the ios update only is suffecient ??

regards

You are right, whenever Cisco device boots, the IOS files gets loaded on the DRAM.

But in this process, some temporary files are also generated which gets saved in the flash/Disk, that’s the only reason you got these error messages. It’s not recommended at all to have less space in the Flash than what is recommended on Cisco.com. I would say please remove some files from Disk and have minimum 256 MB flash otherwise your router may drop into rommon mode at the time of next reload.

Well, it’s good to upgrade the bootstarp image too. Currently you are running 15.X IOS code, I would say run 15.X bootstarp image on the box.

You may download bootstarp image for 7206VRX NPEG2 from the link below:-
