Hi,
I have a problem with x4648-rj45V+E module, which is not forwarding frames/packets in my 4507E switch. I have done the diagnostic and the module test is passed. When i try to ping from one PC to another in the flat network, icmp is not forwarding. Even i cannot see the mac addresses in the mac address-table. But i can ping to my management port in the sup module? Am i missing something ? This is weird .
Please help me to solve this issue.

Do you have all the firewalls turned off in your pc's that you are using to ping ?

More info required.
1. What IOS are you using?
2. Is this affecting only one blade in the chassis? Have you tried relocating the blade in another chassis?
3. What's the configuration of the port in question?
4. Stupid question from me: Is the link up/up? Can you post the output to the command "sh interface

Glen--> yes all my firewalls are disabled in the client PCs.

1. What IOS are you using?
Version 12.2(53)SG2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
2. Is this affecting only one blade in the chassis? Have you tried relocating the blade in another chassis? yes, i have tried relocating the module to other slots, but still problem remains same.
3. What's the configuration of the port in question? port has no configurations, just default config.
4. Stupid question from me: Is the link up/up? Can you post the output to the command "sh interface
Best part is when i plug the cable, ports are showing up and up

Default config? Please post it. If it's in VLAN 1, is VLAN 1 allowed in your network?

Hi, this is a new switch and still we didn't connect to network. VLAN1 is showing up/up. check the outputs below.

Do you have some ACL in place ?
I can see only one interface as up, which one is the trunk here ?
Come up with complete scenario .... IP Addresses, MAC Addresses, Mac Table in the switch etc.
I am sure .. we will get a way from here !!

Hi Parvesh,
This is actually not connected to the network or any other switches. Just now am started to install the switch. By using vlan 1 we should be able to ping from one pc to another . This is the default functionality of the switch, if am not not wrong!
But when i connect two PCs to this module and ping them in between, am not getting any reply.
I used one PC as 192.168.1.1/24 and another with 192.168.1.2/24.
I'm not seeing any MAC address in the mac address table, regarding those two pcs.
I did configured the management port in the primary sup module and try to ping from the client, am getting the reply back.
Hope, now u got the scenarion what am talking about!!!

Try putting "spanning portf".

Can you please confirm if the same hosts are responding to each other .. through a cross cable...
Any logs .. ?? Try to debug IP packets and share the result here ... !!

Hi Guys,
I have another 2 new 3750s where i can able to ping between two same PCs. And the 3750 is learning the mac address from the PCs.
But 4507 ethernet module is not even learning from the PC. I checked with packet sniffer and i can see the "arp request" is forwarded to the switch module. but i don't see any "arp reply" from the switch module. I think some hardware issue. Going to open a case with cisco and confirm the issue. Then i hope i can get a replacement module via RMA process.
Thank you for your responces.
Regards
kajen
