We have been tasked with the possibility of implementing jumbo frames on some of the switchports that are used by our servers. I see where you can increase the MTU size on the ports. However, I have also seen that if you're going to do this you have to enable all ports on a certain subnet or vlan for it to work. Is this true? Are there any other concerns associated with jumbo frames that I need to be aware of??
Don't have any "hands on" with jumbo and don't recall whether jumbo also works across L3. If it does, would think you could bump into all the MTU along the path issues if it doesn't support the senders MTU.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
