how to check the l2 and l3,active mode on a 6513 switch ?

easy...
"show run interface gigabit0/0/0"
If you see "no switchport" listed under the output then you can easily tell you have a L3 port.
To see all ports in one shot:
"show int status" - L3 ports will be listed as routed
