L2 traffic information

Hi,

We want to get L2 traffik amount (bit/byte) passing through a cisco switch (6500/3560 ...) for a specific VLAN. it can be via SNMP or CLI ...How can we do that?

note: there is no L3 interface on swtiches.

Hello Muhammed,

You can use Solarwind monitoring tool, such as "Network Performance Monitor" to collect port base traffic utilization.

It uses snmp RO string to collection this info.

You can use Cacti, MRTG, PRTG. These are all opensource software that does the samething as solarwinds.I would recommend Cacti, its easy to setup and gives you a nice GUI for adding devices and for creating graphs.They all use SNMP RO string for pulling data.
