Latency issues on data plane traffic through a 7K

We are experiencing latency issues on traffic flowing through a single 7K in comparsion to one of our sites that has a Cat4500 as the core switch (no HSRP, no VPC, just SVIs).  At the site with the 7K, users complain about performance issues when connecting to applications from with their site as well as remote users connecting to applications located downstream from the 7K.  These latency issues are not appearent for other sites that using a Cat Based switch for the upstream core switch for other applications.

For the site with the 7K, we have 2 3750X access swithches connected to the 7K.  Average latency when pinging from 3750X to 3750X is 8ms.  This flows through the 7K on the same Vlan.  If you ping one of the end hosts from one of the 3750Xs, its latency averages 1-2 ms.

Running the same test for another site that has a Cat4500 as the core instead of a 7K, the average latency from 3750X to 3750X switch is about 2ms.

The 7K is a single 7010 with the SUP1, FAB1, and  GEN 1 M Series line card running 5.1(5).
