Looking for a recommendation on a 24 and a 48 port Layer 2 switch that provides POE, 10/100/1000 and QOS. Any help would be appreciated

Try the 3560-E series I worked with one in the past, they are pretty good. Here is an informational link.

I would recomend this tool: http://www.ciscowebtools.com/ProductAdvisor/child/1.0/switches.asp

It is the Cisco Product Advisor. It is very slick and easy to use. You are able to narrow down your switch choices by environment, form factor, topology, port density, system features, architecture, access port type and uplink connectivity.
