Limiting GE ports to 10/100

Hi All,

I have a number of 3560 Catalyst switches, and for network design reasons, would like each copper port to act as an autonegotiate 10/100 switch without GE being and option.

Is there a waqy to do this? I can only seem to configure either 10 or 100 or 1000 via the speed command. Any clues?

Ada,

Autonegotiate command is used, when you dont know the speed of other side port.

You cannot autonegotiate with 10/100 on GE port. Either you need to set 100 or 10 with speed command.

And anyway I dont think there are any more devices which are comming with 10Mbps interfaces. right.

Hope that helps,

Please rate if helpfull.

Not so, Suresh. From Command Ref doc:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3560/12225see/cr/cli3.htm#wp1947308

This example shows how to set a port to autonegotiate at only 10 or 100 Mbps:

Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/1

Switch(config-if)# speed auto 10 100
