LINE BACK UP ISSUE

Hi there,

i'm having issues creating a backup for an MPLS line. There are two switches (4500 and 6500) connected via two links; an MPLS link (Primary), and an ADSL via the Internet (Backup). Please find sample of the topology:

PRIMARY

4500->1800->MPLS CLOUD->2600->6500

BACKUP

4500->877 (dialer interface)->INTERNET->PIX->6500

Both the primary/Backup interfaces on the 4500 are in the same VLAN, and same with the 6500. Both ends are running EIGRP.

this is what i did. I created a GRE tunnel across the ADSL and the 6500, so i could advertise EIGRP to the other end via the GRE tunnel. But to my surpise, the link just flapping on the gre tunnel (route recursion) as soon as i advertise them in eigrp. Please do advice me on the best way i could go about advertising eigrp across both links and making the ADSL line the backup link. Thanks.

Re: LINE BACK UP ISSUE

Run BGP across the backup link and redistribute routes into EIGRP. Routes learned in this way will be external EIGRP routers and you could use the normal EIGRP mechanisms for influencing path selection.
