fa0/0 of a router or switch?

More information would be good. It can mean several things.

Re: line protocol is down

Hello ocporbust,

this means the interface keepalive sent every 10 seconds is not received back

this normally leads to one of the following :

- unplugged cable or wrong cable type (cross / straight)

- powered off remote end device

- unmatching fixed speed parameters

As John suggests you could provide more info on how the port is configured and on what type of device to get better help.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
