Lock or security panel for Catalyst switches

Hi there,

we are using Cisco Catalyst switches which are stored in locked sub-distribution cabinets.

Now we have to share one cabinet and the switches in it with another department.

To secure our network we have to secure our switchports so that our cables cannot be plugged or unplugged.

Therefor we're looking for security mechanisms like locks which lock single or a range of R45 ports.

The following links show some solutions but I'm looking for alternatives and wasn't succesful so far.

http://www.phoenixcontact.de/news/194_25635.htm

http://www.rdm.com/de/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-184/

(check the PDFs on the right hand side)

I know that we could secure ports software sided but we'd like to have a hardware solution as well.

Would be nice if anyone had an info for me.

Thanks in advance,

Niclas

It depends on what type of switch it is.

FX I know the 2940s have a special device you install it in that blocks of the physical access to the ports.

I think there are some to the 2960G also.

but this i am not shure of.

otherwise i know of a cable end with a special screw underneth the rj45 flip locking it inplace so that the plastic flip cannot be pressed and thus can not be removed.

Also I have seen ppl experimenting with different types of non electric leading glue and paste but that will ruin the switch so that you can not use it for other things (and I would imagine it would ruin the warranty also)

and i would guess that it would be to take things one step to far.

so what model is the switch ?

Hi hobbe,

Catalyst 3560.

I would guess the article number is

CBLGRD-C3560-8PC=

it is to be used with 3560-8PC switch

As far as I know there are no other 3560 switch with a cableguard readily available. then you would look at aftermarket products.

If it is a 19" rack mount switch then I would look for a 19" wallmount locker.

something like this

search for article 7000710
