Hi,

You can enable Syslog logging using "logging " and make sure to have the command "logging event link-status" under the interfaces.

HTH,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

thanks Mohammed,

if you can tel me what difference between:

- snmp trap link-status

and

- logging event link-status

Hi,

snmp trap link-status > sends snmp trap to the NMS for interface status.

logging event link-status > sends logging to a syslog server for interface status.

HTH,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

yoyo

if you have no syslog server, you can download a free one : http://www.kiwisyslog.com/index.php

but if you use subinterfaces with frame relay, may be you will not receive a log msg when only one lgical interface (and not the physical) comes down.

mohammed, did you face this problem before? i think in this case we must use SNMP traps.

Hi Oussama,

For subinterfaces you must make sure that the command "logging event subif-link-status" is under the main/physical interface.

HTH,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

thank you for your response,

another question plz,

there is possibility on router to send trap when time to ping a specific host exceed for exemple 100 ms?
