Login local on con 0

Hello,

I'm trying to get the login local command to work on the console port.

I have added:

username admin secret admin priv 15

enable secret 12345

line con 0

login local

I now get presented with a username and password option but it doesn't accept my local database username and password?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Is aaa configured? If so, I don't believe login local will work any longer. You'll need "login authentication default" or whatever you named your local authentication name.

**** Edit *****

I stand corrected....I tested this, and it works fine even with aaa configured.

The problem is in your username line.

It should be:

username admin priv 15 secre xxxxx

Agree with john .

You entered the wrong command for credentials.

Please use like this :

Username admin priv 15 secret admin

Thanks guys, what is wrong with my head today, that works, why did I do it the other way.  It let me do it, what does the command I typed do then?

HI Andy,

config t

username admin priv 15 secret admin

Regards

Dont forget to rate helpful posts and mark this question as answered.

I believe that the way you typed the command makes priv 15 into part of the password.
