Hi

I have a Home lab setup. I am planning to implement VLANs for my homelab. I am looking for base model cisco switch which can provide 1 GBps of speed and should have capability to configure VLAN's.

Any particular reason you want 1GBps?

The 2950 platform is the best for what you are describing (but its only 100Mbps).

If you NEED 1GBps then I recommend the 2970.

1.  What's your budget?

2.  Do you have refurbished or used model?

I am looking something between 150$ to 250$

I would prefer a new one instead of used/refurbished one.

A new one for $150 to $250?

I belive the Cisco Small Business Switches (aka Linksys) would be a good candidate.  You won't be able to get brand new Cisco Catalyst for this price (retail).
