Loopback Interface IP Address

Dear All,

Can i use loopback interface without assign ip address to it??

i want to use it for NAT on stick

Loopback Interface IP Address

You certainly can configure a loopback interface and not give it an IP address. I am puzzled at how you would use it for NAT on stick without it having an address.

Can I assign any ip for loopback interface and not related to ip that using in NAT

Sure, you can assign any available IP address to a loopback interface, as long as that IP is not used anywhere else in your network.

example:

int lo0

ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.255

or

int lo0

ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.255

I want to use NAT on stick to complete static NAT in router that have only one physical interface , please confirm that assign any ip to loopback interface will not effect on NAT process

Hello.

I guess it would be better if you provided some diagram and description what you are configuring.

But I would say that static NAT translations may use ip-addresses that are not assigned to any router's interface.
