Hello
Does anyone know what that means?
All Lincards are SFM-capable 48 port 10/100/1000mb RJ45 WS-X6548-GE-TX
Mod MAC addresses Hw Fw Sw Status
--- ---------------------------------- ------ ------------ ------------ -------
2 0011.20b9.0f72 to 0011.20b9.0fa1 10.0 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
3 000d.ed4e.7f36 to 000d.ed4e.7f65 7.0 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
4 0014.a9df.2e28 to 0014.a9df.2e57 10.1 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
5 0014.a9f7.02f4 to 0014.a9f7.0323 10.1 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
6 0015.f9f1.88d0 to 0015.f9f1.88ff 10.1 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
7 0014.a9df.4910 to 0014.a9df.493f 10.1 7.2(1) 12.2(33)SXI9 MajFail
Last night we had a HSRP switchover.
At the moment everything is working fine.

Hi,
This is normally an indication of a hardware failure. Please try the following:
1-Set up the diagnostics level to complete
#conf t
(config)#diagnostic bootup level complete
2-Then you will need to reset the affected modules either by physically reseating it from the chassis or use the commands below:
#hw-module module ?
<1-9> module slot number
#hw-module module 1 reset
3-Finally once the module comes back up, you can check that the module passed all the boot up diagnostics using the command:
#show diagnostic result module ?
<1-9> Module Number
If after that the major fail still there, then a replacement will be needed. Hope this helps

Hi Leo,
thx a lot. Problem is solved.
But why are the linecards CEF720 48 port 1000mb SFP are not effected?. What can cause this problem?. We have a WS-6513.
Regard Horst

Hi Horst,
Glad to hear that the issue was resolved, about the cause I think that you mentioned that there was a switchover, if that switchover was done by reloading the active box sometimes it might be possible that the modules will report minor/major errors upon boot up. There can be different causes like soft/hard parity errors or when the supervisor checks the interrupts on each module in the system by periodically polling for the error counters maintained in the line card.
Repeated errors, often referred to hard errors are caused by failed components, normally when this happens the show log will provide an error message showing the exact cause of the error and most of the time a simply re-seat will solve the issue. This should not affect all modules at the same time it can be possible that some will show errors and some not.
Regards,
Leo
