Microsoft Load Balancing on 4506

I'm trying to implement the following configuration on a Catalyst 4506 running 12.1(20r)EW1.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_example09186a0080a07203.shtml#mm

We have a three MS servers clusterd together. Two of them are on the same 4506.

When I try to enter the static mac address entry I am only allowed to enter one physical port.

switch(config)# mac-address-table static 02bf.0a1b.68fd vlan 20 interface FastEthernet5/8 ?

     <cr>

If I try to do two seperate entries the first one is overwritten.

Any suggestions?

Hello Tobin,

if you are really running 12.1(20r)EW1 I would suggest an IOS image upgrade as your version is rather old.

This can easily explain why you cannot enter the required command

I have the same problem on a C4500 running 12.2(20)EW

switch(config)#$-table static 02bf.0a1b.68fd vlan 20 interface g5/4 g5/5

mac-address-table static 02bf.0a1b.68fd vlan 20 interface g5/4 g5/5

Hello Dan,

thanks this confirms that an IOS upgrade is necessary for the original poster as I have suspected

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Thank you both. That explains it. Gives me a good excuse to upgrade the IOS.
