I am looking to upgrade switch uplinks from 3750x's to 6500 VSS from 1Gig etherchannel to 10Gig etherchannel. I don't have lab equipment to test this but does the following sound like a valid approach to complete this migration with minimal downtime?
Step 1 - Setup a new etherchannel, assign no ports, leave in the shutdown state
Step 2 - Shutdown one physical port on the existing etherchannel
step 3 - Replace SFP's on the shutdown port to 10Gig SFP+
Step 4 - Move the physical port over to the new etherchannel
Step 5 - Configure Flex Link on the existing etherchannel, pointing to the new etherchannel as backup
step 6 - Bring up the new etherchannel
step 7 - confirm active/standby state
step 8 - Shutdown existing etherchannel
step 9 - Confirm new etherchannel is working ok
step 10 - Replace SFP's on the shutdown etherchannel phsyical port
step 11 - move the physical port over to the new etherchannel
step 12 - enable the physical port
step 13 - confirm connectivity over the new etherchannel
step 14 - remove the existing etherchannel and flex link config
Anyone see any problem I could run into with this?
