I'm migrating a pair of .1q trunked switches (6509s on 12.2(33)) from PVST to rapid-pvst. What I'm not sure about is whether or not all the connected ports on either switch will experience an outage after issuing the "spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst" command. I would think at least there would be a migration delay followed by the rstp delay for connected ports. Some ports have portfast, but I'd think they'd also at least see the migration delay. Anyone done this and seen the outcomes?
