Hi,

We have 6006 switch with WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE and WS-F6K-MSFC2.

Cat OS is 6.4(20)

But I am getting error message

Module Type Unknown Card, Status power-bad.

When module is removed and inserted I have seen console message

APGBIC> (enable) failed to read serial eeprom of linecard in slot 6.

Can I have any suggestions on this?

There is redundant power supply 1330watts.

Regards

SKRAO

Hi SKRAO,

Which card is giving this error message? Can you post the model number?

I believe the card which is giving this error message is not supported by the image which you are running on your supervisor. Second reason could be that its a bad hardware also.

Just most the model number of card?

Ankur

Hi SKRAO,

I have already encountered the similler problem before, This is a Modules Hardware Problem.

Hi Ankur,

Part Model Number is WS-X6324-100FX-MM. Which is supported line card in 6006 with minimum

CatOS 5.3 and recommended 6.4(11)

SKRAO

Hi Skrao,

As you already have the supported image on sup remove and reinsert the module which I believe you have already done. If this message appears again, reset the switch.

If the switch is still unable to read the EEPROM, its a bad hardware then.

Ankur

Ankur,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried reseating, resetting and placing in another slot. But same result.

Previous card given same problem. This is new module, giving same problem. I don't have spare 6006 to test the module.

SKRAO

Hi SKRAO,

Can you try resetting the complete switch if possible?

Also if possible post the "sh mod" , "sh env" and complete error messgae with with % and all.
