monitoring BPDU traffic?

Is it possible to monitor the BPDU traffic between switches? Am I correct that this is done at the frame level (Layer 2) such that a packet sniffer will be of no use? Thanks.

It is done at Layer 2, but you will see BPDUs if you connect a sniffer to a switch port. Try loading wireshark on your PC and take a capture off your ethernet port. If you are connected to a switch you will see BPDUs. If you want to see the BPDUs off a different interface you will need to set up a SPAN session.
