MST Path = 0

Hi All,

I am just doing some testing of a network due to be installed in a couple of weeks and have noticed what seems to be strange results with MST.  I have some C3750G switches connected together running MST and these switches seem to think that the path cost is zero.  Which has a knock effect on the edge switches, in similar networks previously I remember this not to be the case.....

In summary is the MST path cost meant to equal zero?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

please be so kind and send a short drawing of your MST enviroment.

Do you use only MST or do you have also have 802.1w or 802.1d in use.

Uplinks are trunk or access ports?

It will be very important for this.

King Regards

Georg

Hi Georg,

The network comprises of 6 stacks of 3750G running MST and 90 "non cisco" industrial switches which only run rSTP.  All the up links are set to trunk.

Thanks In advance

Chris
