MSTP - IST vs CST vs CIST

Hi ,

My thinking on the term's of MSTP are as below.

Correct me if my understanding is wrong

IST -  For communication within the region.

CST -  For communication between the IST's.

CIST  - For comunnication between all regions ( Entire Bridged Toplogy ).

Re: MSTP - IST vs CST vs CIST

I would agree more on you first posting:

IST -  For CST-compatible communication within the region (= MSTI 0).

CST -  For communication between the IST's.

CIST  - For comunnication between all regions ( Entire Bridged Toplogy excluding the non-0 MSTIs).

See the standard's definitions and the layman's terms in UNH-IOL_BFC_Knowledgebase_MSTP.ppt
