Multicast Does Not work in the same Vlan between Catalysts?

We have two servers communicating with multicast between 3 6500's (2 access and 1 Distribution). On one access 6500 its using CatOS and the other access its using IOS. Between the two access switchess is our Distribution also at IOS. I read the document on this problem and it recommeded disabling igmp snooping on both IOS 6500's but I wanted to see what impact that would impose to our Datacenter Distribution if that was to be disabled and all multicast would then be broadcasted. Any suggestions or precautions to take?

Hi Friend,

You can disable ip igmp snooping as you said which will create a broadcast for any multicast traffic now it depends what kind of multicast traffic your servers are sending, with what capacity and size and at what intervals?

I will recommend to enable IGMP snooping and enable IGMP querier. See if this link helps you with IGMP querier
